Abstract:
Objective: to study CT findings of chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma, and to evaluate its clinical value.
Methods: The CT findings of 19 focuses in 15 cases with chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma were analyzed. All were surgically and pathologically proved.
Results: ① Most of the focuses were found in tympana cavity (about 93%), some in tympana cavity and mastoid sinus (about 27%) and only one focus in pars petrosa (7%). ② The primary CT findings were the sign of soft-tissue occupancy and bony-erosion, broadened of prussak,s lacuna, ossified around the bony-erosion.
Conclusion CT scan can accurately show the sign of chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma, and it is important to diagnosis and surgical therapy.
